I think that is an RAF logo, the pixelation on a small camera w/ digital zoom makes the red inner circle unseen and distorts the outline of the star, I do not think the USMC (that's who flys the sea knight) still uses the star emblem, I know the RAF still uses theirs.

No, its american pause it at 23 or 24 secs and you can see its a white star with blue background, British pilots or RAF have a circle with a large blue ring then white then a red dot in the middle

I believe the ship was American and I don't doubt that it was carrying U.S. Marines but it looks like an RAF emblem below the starboard side avenger mini-gun mount. I also read on another site it was an RAF helicopter. Not hat it matters whose it was, poor guys.

Sorry to disagree Reeman, but there are numerous sources on the net showing it to be an American helicopter, crew, and ship. From what I read in the CNN article there were Marines aboard the helicopter, and most of them died.

No, it is definitely a British helo, the US only uses Ch-4[B]6[/B]'s for the USMC. that was a British RAF helicopter attempting a landing on what may have been a US ship.

Poor guy was trying to get out when the helicopter started falling.

It's a British one. They accidently landed one of the landing gears on the little metal piece and the metal piece dragged the helicopter down. They came in too fast.

I don't know. Looks like a US marking on the low side of the fuselage on the starbord side of the helicopter. Circle with a star in it, similar to what you see on most US aircraft. Do the Brits have the same marking?
