Then they should call it Thin Lizzy Tribute Band. It would be like calling yourself a Big Mac when the meat is missing. Long live Philip! By the way have you listened to Solo in Soho lately?

Now say that Phil Lynott was still among us and was singing this song, would you say it was pathetic then? What I think you and many other people who are critical of this new Thin Lizzy is that this band is not trying to better the old band which is just impossible to do. It's just paying tribute that's all. Just like any tribute band out there!

originally even the great solo Robbo played on 'live & dangerous' was based on studio version 'night life' solo, originally played by Gary Moore and Robbo refused to re-record in studio because 'it was great as it was'. So I would say they are 3 wicked interpretations of the same idea.

Yeah I'm not Dissing John Sykes solo on this song.....however, I think the fact that Robbo plays different solo's is a sign of real talent...I love the L&D one of course....it would be my Desert Island song.....but I also love the L&D video version. Completely different but still great. Whatever the solo, this song is fantastic. Lynott was a true showman and genius.

Sykes copied it but still put his unique touch on to it. Sykes version is great and Robbo's but the problem is that Robbo kept changing the solo around. If he just stayed with the solo that we hear on Live And Dangerous because that's the best one that he did and Sykes knows it because that's why he plays it but he doesn't just want to rip him off!

Good ....but it does NOT beat Robbo....his solo makes me weep still..>Sykes is copied.

I mean, john is john... he's gonna play it his way, you can't ask anymore of a musician... I think Gary Moore's version is the best as far as non-lynott versions go.
