What's your favourite Brad Pitt moment? Apart from the two I mentioned, I also like him in Fight Club. Today's conversation is here, from 3:12 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vHFSbEXu7A English Script (and links): http://thedailyenglishshow.blogspot.com/2008/04/show-696-tuesday-8-april.html 英文スクリプト+日本語訳+番組詳細 http://tdes.blog120.fc2.com/blog-entry-141.html Show 696 Tuesday 8 April The Daily English Show http://www.thedailyenglishshow.com/

  • good, better, best. ...

    good, better, best...

"You'd better not." = Things will turn out better if you don't do that.

Also used sometimes, "You'd best not." = same thing.

I guess "better" used in that sense is an adverb, and "better not" is an adverb phrase. Or something.

There's other constructions, "Hadn't you better clean up your room?"

"Better off", meaning an improved condition, is also a common idiom. "You're better off without her."

    Funny language, aye.
