Mike, an It's Your Plane co-pilot, assists the Captain land a Boeing 747-400 at Calgary International Airport (CYYC).

You'll hear the Captain speaking commands to the First Officer who faithfully carries out his instructions. Not once does the Captain touch a button on the keyboard, or use his mouse, in any way. The entire flight, from gate-to-gate, is carried out by the Captain's voice commands.

All of this is made possible by the unique It's Your Plane software that works with both FS9 and FSX, on XP and Vista.

The system contains all of the checklists:

Pre-Flight
Before Startup
Startup
Before Taxi
Taxi
Before Takeoff
Take off and Climb out
Cruising
Descent
Approach and Landing
Taxi to the Gate/Ramp
Parking
Shutdown

The system works with MOST of the Microsoft DEFAULT aircraft and many other FREEWARE and PAYWARE planes.

  • When the First ...

When the First Officer asks, "Do we want me to run through the Approach and Landing checklists?", and you answer in the affirmative, he/she will then ask, "Would you like me to assist you?" If you respond with "No thanks", or "Negative", then YOU (the Captain) get to execute ALL of the Landing procedures, with the First Officer merely calling out cautions on the way down. However, the First Officer is always there to assist with Rejected-Take Offs and Go-Around procedures (again by the book).

  • If flight deck and ...

If flight deck and cabin crew announcements to the passengers (both on the ground and during flight), cabin music, seat belt alerts to passengers during air turbulence, First Officer warnings to the Captain during the flight, In-Flight-Announcements to the passengers (patent pending), where the First Officer tells the passengers what they can see out of the left and right sides of the aircraft during the flight along with the local temperatures are of interest, then youll NEED a First Officer.

  • RE: Isn't the whole ...

RE: Isn't the whole point of flight sim to actually fly and do it yourself? I truly doubt that a single pilot could routinely handle a commercial jetliner by themselves BY THE BOOK. If one places serious emphasis on running through all of the checklists, namely: Pre-Flight, Before Startup, Startup, Before Taxi, Taxi, Before Takeoff, Takeoff, Climb Out, Cruise, Descending, Approach, Landing, Taxi to the Gate, Parking and Shutdown in a "Realistic Virtual" environment, they NEED a First Officer.

With 33 knot side-winds, it wasn't too bad! Any landing you can walk away from, is a GOOD LANDING! LOL

What a fantastic and ingenious idea. How did you come up with something like this? I really love the idea of having a Co-Pilot to talk to, as this helps take a load off of my shoulders, especially on long trips. Please post more awesome videos like this one.
