  • Hi introvertebrate! ...

    Hi introvertebrate!
I am unable to get my hands on the IN4007 Diod to come off the collector. Is there something else I can use there?
Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.

  • the bedini ssg ...

the bedini ssg isn't really a torque motor. Adding more magnets won't increase the torque but adding more coils will.

How much torque is this bedini capable of, and would adding more magnets increase the torque?

  • Ref: BASIC ...

Ref: BASIC ELECTRONICS THEORY - half priced books. pin 2 555 trigger pin, output pin 3, 180 degrees out of phase. Use a diode and a single capacitor across the only coil you need-bifilar appears unnecessary. Converted square wave signal can then be replicated, boosted audio amplifier and connected to the coil for u know what. by the way, 1n4007 is 1000v rating, 1n4001 is 50v rating.

  • I wouldn't worry ...

I wouldn't worry too much about the diode. Buy an economy pack of 1/2 watt ones. Put them in series for higher voltage or parallel for more watt capacity. Combining them in such fashion should get you where you need to be.

  • So these folks ...

So these folks building them are delusional? I can't think of another scenario. They run until the bearing freeze or the circuit burns up because of transients. I think you have been listening to guys like my (x) doc. He told me for sure it was all in my head. Week after that the news about viagra made him into an old fool. doddering, my friend.

  • oh! and the ...

oh! and the laminations, rods etc must be insulated from each other so if you didn't laquer the copper coated welding rod pieces you wasted your time and may just as well have used a solid core. If you keep blowing transistors then you are almost certainly generating high voltage switching pulses from the coil and need to put a small inductance in series with the coils and transistor these can be readily bought from electronics supply shops, a few mH on a ferrite core should be sufficient, but

pretty much any other diode should be fine... I have substituted the 1n4001 for 1n4007 s before and it doesnt appear to affect performancce significantly.
