    she lost it in season 2 bcuz she remembered when she was gang raped as a kid.. it started bcuz their roommate hid cameras around the house and was taping everything they did.. she felt violated and with other things she was going through it led her to self mutilation.

    it's like in season five when Shane says to her, "You're a survivor." & she is, i mean she's endured a ton of crap over the seasons; Raped as a child, Risked everything for someone who in the end lets her down, Struggles to find her identity, Falls for someone who uses her, Has a nervous breakdown, Dates max who starts to get abusive, Blackmailed & fired, Only shane supports Jenny & leaves with her...then Shane lets her down too. Jenny needs to be cut some slack here lol.

    Jenny has a break down in season two because she started to fall for Carmen, but she had this lingering feeling Carmen loved Shane (Carmen denied it of course) Then their roommate Mark had set up little cameras around the house and invaded their privacy. Well the one film clip that Jenny ends up finding is of Carmen & Shane. So basically Carmen uses her, & Mark's invasion of privacy unlocks surpressed memories of when Jenny was raped as a child. (which festers into trust issues)

    Personally i don't think Jenny is any more crazy than anyone else on the show. All the characters destroy themselves in various ways. Some party excessively, do drugs, cheat on their partners, stalk their ex's, have meaningless sex, become anti-social. They all hit low points and do self-destructive things, so i don't think Jenny is any worse of than anyone else. lol Everyone makes it seem like she's this absolute nutcase, i just think of her as passionate & vibrant.
