they got the entire interchange,demo and rebuild,done in under 8 months! the span from .39-59 sec is about 1.5 miles north. that was done in 2 months. it was a crazy way to re-route traffic but it worked well in that time. at 1:00, that was not a clean break, by design, it is made in sections. see the dobbie bros. cover "captain and me". its the same freeway-that was the re-build for the 1971 sylmar collapse on the cover..
