Powerlifting USA acknowledges paul anderson as the strongest man who ever lived. If any one says that he cheated what about all the powerlifters now who use one or two plys to do there lifts.

Please note Paul does not cheat on the press or the jerk with a massive back bend, turning this lift into merely a bench press, the way Alexseyev did. It's all on film. Paul did his lifts before the era of Dianabol. Good man, and an actual amateur. I know you guys are really gonna kick my ass around for saying this too.

yeah, vasiliy had bigger lifts than anderson, but Reza is now the strongman to beat.

I sure Paul was closer to about 540-550kg, maybe you do more study! The 500 was done when he was quite sick, Soviet cowardice meant they did not enter lifter. Glad to educate you!

I doubt it's steroids. A lot of people loaded to the top with steroids didn't even get half his strength, and by that time, the steroids took their toll and wiped them out. It would be nearly impossible to reach this guy's level with just steroids. It's more likely because he's a genetic freak of nature, like a lot of other guys said.

USSR athletes used significantly less steroids than western lifters, they did not have as much oney and since vlasov passed Olympics tests, that means he had NOTHING on him.

Vasily also was on so many steroids he wouldn't have passed a drug test using someone elses urine.

Vlasov beat Anderson's record while being WAY lighter. It happened in 1960 Olympics.

Anderson is my inspiration in terms of the form though.

In terms of form, physique, Anderson is simply superb, he had a truly weightlifter's body.

OMG! He makes 3X Mr Universe & Legendary Strongman himself Reg Park look weak in comparison. There's a post of Park who's prime (1950's) was at the same time as Pauls. He's benching 500lbs (the 2nd ever to do so) with ease.Reg played Hercules during 60's and had real Herculean Strength. But Pauls Power was from beyond the Gods and on a whole another level completely Awesome!

anderson wasn never defeated by vlasov. Vlasov came 5 years after him and wieghed allt eh way up to 300+ lbs. Wow, how many idiots I readh time I visit the web, sweet :). Anderson was a ton stronger but had not the finesse of OLWLs.
