Video compilation of various martial arts training dvds that I have. Maybe it will motivate someone to train in a different style that they might not have considered. Part 2 will be up soon.
I don't have to go out and learn Wing Chun to know it S**ks any more than I have to go out and learn magic tricks to know it's just slight of hand and not real magic. WC specializes in only one fighting range. Trapping is over complicated and easily neutralized by long range strikes or by clinching. WC footwork is impractical and inflexible, especially compared to boxing footwork. And finally WC strikes generally lack power and are thus ineffective.

By chineseboxer9 [Affiliate User] 1183239273 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt's not really. Of all those shown, Wing Chun is the least useful and most likely to teach you BS. You should be looking at Muay Thai, and possibly JKD, although many JKD instructors are also full of it.

By Pav456 [Affiliate User] 1180606537 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI agree with the terminator guy. But there are three kinds of martial arts now. Sport, traditional, and war arts. If you water down your traditional arts enough for rules, a ref, and a cage, you've created a sport art. This involves taking away ALOT of the practical techniques. Then there's the war arts that teach how to kill someone, break knecks, jaws, arms, legs, etc. These, you'll NEVER see in MMA. You'd be kicked out in 10 seconds.

By DrVoltage1 [Affiliate User] 1179773315 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNice vid, but do you know where I can find info on the Flamingo style? I am tall and lanky so distance is a good friend of mine; plus I have always had a love for good leg techniques. If you havent seen this style, I would highly suggest "The Legend of Drunken Master"...I think thats the correct title. It is the more recent Drunken Master movie starring Jackie Chan.
By DrVoltage1 [Affiliate User] 1179772915 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveDon't get me wrong though, I think MMA is great, I'm about to start training in muay thai, western boxing and jujitsu soon. Main reason I think these styles are popular is of course the popularity of MMA, but more so that they are techniques that are easy to learn and use right away. Most Gung Fu takes a lot of time! Modern day era does not allow much time to master Gung Fu for the average individual.
By apax5terminator [Affiliate User] 1179512559 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveGung Fu masters do not paticipate in UFC or MMA because they don't believe in using there techniques for the mere entertainment of the public. Most Gung Fu styles stresses the point of never using your gung fu in anything other than self defense.
By apax5terminator [Affiliate User] 1179511966 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhat does a decade and a half prove? Think about hundreds of years of combat and survival, I think the systems that were created a long time ago to keep one alive and the fact that at that time they had a lot more time to practice and develop it would create a system that works.

btw.. read bios of him and dont discuss in this senceless way
Why are you telling me that? lol
By ATiRAGEPRO [Affiliate User] 1178884323 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveBruce Lee and Ninjitsu? I don't know.... To does who still don't know or "get it", JKD is not a style or even a set of techniques that can be applied to any style. Jeet Kune Do was more of a philosophy and I will go as far as to say that it can be considered a way of life. Lee never wanted it to be considered a style since after a certain point in his life he stopped believing in styles.
By vladik87 [Affiliate User] 1178849122 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removebut not the same art

By ChocolateBadness [Affiliate User] 1178649770 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI assume by Ninjutsu you mean Taijutsu. Not all forms of Taijutsu are even alike. JeetKuneDo isn't any more similar to Taijutsu then Hapkido. Jeet Kune Do is not even a style, it's a system you apply to any style you already know.
And if you're saying that styles like WingChun and Taiji are stupid, then you are certainly talking out of your ass.
4:10 is crazy
By Skizzy461 [Affiliate User] 1177834905 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNo, it's really not like ninjitsu at all. I've watched Bruce Lee's videos, have his training manual and trained with ninjitsu practitioners, there's no more similarity there than any other martial art.
Muay Thai, Wing Chun, and Tai Chi are three of the very biggest martial art styles in the world.
