  • The problem of ...

    The problem of using mirror to get more sun to the solar panels, is that it require the proper angle to the sun, to keep the focus in one small point. But the sun relativevly moves along the day, so the mirror must move along the sun aparent moviment. That's the problem.

    maybe the idea is to make wood gas from solar
    and end up with charcoal?
    burn the wood gas in a motor.. and make electricity and heat the house with charcoal?

    I dunno. It seems like finding the focal point with your hand might not be the smartest action. If it will start wood smoking right away, wouldn't that burn skin. I made a 36" parabolic concentrator with 1" mirrors that would catch a 2"x4" on fire in 6 seconds. Folks wanted to put their hands in that too.

    Maybe you could try making up a wire rack or find someplace to hang a tin cup or can with some water in it. It looks in the video, like you used flat mirrors on a sat dish. Can you tell if they are all focused on the same place? It looks pretty good for the north east. I'm in Canada, and just starting to look at some solar cooking. Good luck!
