This is good stuff for policemen who are allowed to apply (counter-)force within restrictions imposed by the law.
By throttlelever [Affiliate User] 1196314925 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFrom what I have seen, clearly, in several altercations is that slicing with a blade is F**king ridiculous.
You close in and stab as many times as possible.
Get real man.
excellent comment CYRU, thats why trying to train for every conceivable way this man can come at you is litterally a complete waste f time. Your time would be better spent learning the targets on the human body and the ways in which they can be hit as the orienation of the body changes. In short be focused on what you want to do to him rather than what he is trying to do to you.
By lordscrub [Affiliate User] 1195939624 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyou know a martial art works when you can take down a tough, big-ass brotha
By 800strong [Affiliate User] 1195762464 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveAfter watching a couple of videos, I realized that the technique would only work if the attacker is commited to a killing blow lunging in. Dealing with that situation is a far simpler matter then a cautious attacker content to stay back and do rapid unpredictable slices while you bleed to death. You can't do much if your hands are all cut up.
By CYRUSsoreal1987 [Affiliate User] 1195682880 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeis pekiti tirsia kali also teaches empty handed weapon disarming techniques?
By kyokushin723 [Affiliate User] 1195602229 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveExcellent video, with lots of great applications. I teach Okinawan Karate and I have incorporated a lot of Kali, Escrima and Silat concepts into our training. What is strange is that I have found that many of these concepts exist in karate kata, but are rarely taught or discovered because they were lost. Kali, silat and other arts such as jun fan and wing chun opened my eyes to a lot of things I was looking over
By koshinkai [Affiliate User] 1195249630 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removenice demonstration.. i think it would be better if you also post a good video clip on how to fight back when it comes to holdap or hostage situation
By sherwinlouie029 [Affiliate User] 1192757096 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe knife doesn't make him dangerous. The human brain is the most dangerous weapon in the universe I mean we figured out that when the nucleus of the atom is split it gives up part of it's mass as energy then used that knowledge to destroy two cities. If anyone makes the mistake in looking at me unarmed and think that I am no longer a threat, they would have made the last mistake in thier life. My brain is my most dangerous weapon without I cant do anything to hurt anyone
By lordscrub [Affiliate User] 1191565167 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIf I am trained to "defend" against a knife then in a situation like that where I get ambushed and maybe stabbed, when I realise that there is a knife involved the first thing I'll try to do is block the stab I already receieved then try to block the other one and the other one until I'm dead, instead if I train simply to injure the person then thats what I'll do.When I rupture is eardrum the knife becomes worthless, but even if I "disarm him" the threat is still there.
By lordscrub [Affiliate User] 1191564838 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI agree with the "we are taught that only bad people hit first". Thats why I don't believe in the basic sparring mindset or typical self defense pattern: WAIT..BLOCK..HIT..WAIT. Hit first and hit fast. In most, if not all, schools teach to defense instead of attack. it is: WAIT THE THE STRIKE, YOU TECHNIQUES #'S 1,2,3 THEN TADA! YOU WIN.
By neilneazer [Affiliate User] 1191444785 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe flinch response (that is in all human beings because it is our natural defense; scientifically proven) would help us in an ambush attack with a weapon but you can't rely on a style or technique to fully help you in a edged weapon situation. Not there is no action that you take will be fatal. A bus driver here in New York fought a knife wielding attacker and stopped him with no prior training
By neilneazer [Affiliate User] 1191444331 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI understand that you must take someone down quickly. No brainer. Your drills in awareness should be watching the guy approach (if possible) and attitude before the initial strike. Like a "pre-fight" or a pretext before the attack. Ambushes are a lot harder to defend against if not impossible.
By neilneazer [Affiliate User] 1191444055 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveRemember that things happen fast so the question still remains the same. If a police repost states that the victim did not see the knife how do you train to stop it? Like here in the demo you see it fully because of the telegraphic movements. What happens when you have some thug who is experience?
By neilneazer [Affiliate User] 1191443907 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFurian picture stepping into an unarmed man and putting your fist through his throat, what was he doing after you hit him? now picture him with a knife in his hand... now do the same thing in your mind. If after you struck his throat he did something different then you need to ask yourself why you would think so.The knife does not put a forcefield around him that prevents him from being injured.the only problem is that some people are afraid of seeing thier own blood so they choose not to act
By lordscrub [Affiliate User] 1191443775 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removehow do train against something you can't see. Question what was I doing before the guy pulled the knife? Answer wasting time, if I let the situation get that far without doing anything then am a fool, I dont have to see a knife to realise that this man needs to be put down, we an all tell when a situation is heading to a point where communication cant help, but we choose to wait to see what he does first because we are taught that only the bad people hit first
By lordscrub [Affiliate User] 1191443471 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis is true. That is why I train others with principles not techniques. They are prone to fail during times of pressure in a real street fight.
By neilneazer [Affiliate User] 1191432737 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIf the reports say the victims never saw the knife, then how do you practice against something you can't see? I am sure you are right about the reports because that seems like a true statement for P.D. reports.
By neilneazer [Affiliate User] 1191432675 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWith both your hands semi-neutralizing both his hands - same with legs..but your mouth is biting one of his arteries in the neck etc..how to reach there...or disarming a guy with a gun...different story..
By furianwalking [Affiliate User] 1191332753 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveRemember one wrong move in your sequence and your whole defense goes down the drain. You will just be surprised that your intestines are hanging out...or blood is spurting from nowhere..redirection but yor goal is to end up in the ground..
By furianwalking [Affiliate User] 1191332545 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhat-He does this..and your response is " 1,2,3,4,and walah he is disabled..Rarely (I did not say never)happens.. Ones primary goal is not to take away the knife but to bring your assailant to the ground by whatever means necessary and with just one count...then techniques come into play. Yes, I can see your guru has done this most of his life and may have enough muscle memory to execute such techniques..but do you???
By furianwalking [Affiliate User] 1191332254 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveOk-have you ever been in a situation where-in you were threatened by a knife? - What I am trying to tell you is..ok..as you said you cannot avoid and you are unarmed..What have you been taught? - Is your primary goal to disarm (knife)from your aggressor?? - My friend - its the hardest thing 2do and the riskiest and in my opinion wrong.
By furianwalking [Affiliate User] 1191331880 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removehmmm thats right turn your back on the guy with the knife in his hand, who did track in high school and practice your best 200 dash. Though if you see the guy coming at you with the knife you run if you can but remember one thing most knife victims report is that they never even saw the knife
By lordscrub [Affiliate User] 1191311024 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveGoggles and gloves? Thats the only thing u cant point out? why dont u ask why is he wearing a black shirt and wrestling shoes? what if he wears a pink shirt, shorts and flip flops? Are all knife attackers wearing helmets, forearm protectors and combat boots?
By coldwatch [Affiliate User] 1191298567 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveRun.yes that right! why didnt all those victims in the news and papers run instead of just laying down on the ground and die? any surviving victim will tell u all knife attacks happen when they least expect it, and all knife experts know that the best defense is to avoid it, but what if u are unarmed and u cant avoid it? what then?
