nobody is an idiot or an asshole because of their nationality. that idea comes just from stereotypes and intolerance, which you both end up using unnecessarily.

  • I see people ...

I see people talking about LPG and CNG as if they are the same. they are not. LPG is a refined product of Crude oil. Natural gas however is a gas siphoned off deposits f decay... same may be oil bearing some may not.

For Propane you still need the oil feedstock...in the USA 70% is foreign imported... whereas natural gas has a lot of domestic sources.

  • Yes, if the engine ...

Yes, if the engine is not adjusted to fit the higher octane Natural Gas your engine will get less torque and less hp.. But not very much.. Why do you need that MONSTER car for? Buy a small one and save the nature! :) 8.1 litre? You could run 4 normal cars on your gasoline bill i guess .. lol ;)

  • Not that I don't ...

Not that I don't understand or appreciate the benefits of higher horsepower, but if you use your truck for heavy hauling, you probably would have been better served with a Diesel.

Even at a $1 more per gallon (vs. $4 per gasoline), you would have saved money with the slightly higher mileage (especially when hauling loads).

HOWEVER, it would have taken a while to offset the cost of the Diesel...

  • Well, to be fair, ...

Well, to be fair, you can refuel propane vehicles at home too.

If you live in a part of the country that relies on propane for heating (like the country), then you probably have a propane tank in your back yard.

You can connect a hose to that tank and as long as it has liquid propane in it, you can refuel your empty propane tank in your car/truck.

I did this for years with my 1989 GMC Sierra pickup until propane got to expensive to make it economical.

  • I have an 8.1 liter ...

I have an 8.1 liter Chevy 2500 and it would be kinda cool to convert it (to save money), but my truck has 330 hp and 425 ft-lbs of torque, does natural gas cause a reduction in power (because I need the power)?

Natural Gas is better. Way cleaner and it passes emissions tests by a long shot. Plus you can refuel at home.

  • It was converted. ...

It was converted. Yeah I have 2 seperate tanks.
The gasoline gets more mileage but just by a few miles. I'd rather use propane because it's cheaper and cleaner and my engine will last longer.
It failed the EPA emissions test so I drive it illegally. Ssshh Don't tell anyone. xD

Was it made that way or converted? You have two separate tanks? How does the mileage compare?

My dodge ram van is a hybrid; propane or gasoline. It's great I only pay 24 dollars for a full tank, and it costs me 60 dollars for gasoline.

  • This is true. I ...

This is true. I used to drive a HUGE dump truck that ran on propane. This was 30 years ago. I imagine that the price is a lot higher than natural gas, though. You have to pay the lower price for a long time before you could recoup the cost of the compressor ($10,000 if I remember correctly).Propane is also widely available throughout the country, too.
