10,000 ft Atop the sacred house of the sun god LA on Maui. Chants and hula are sacred offering of mana to the sun. Without the sun, there is no life.. so give a little aloha to the sun when it arises and when it sets. The Big island volcanos Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea are seen as well as cinder cones connecting Hawaii to center of Earth. Hawaii is point of creation on Earth... where new Earth is being made each day. This makes Hawaii the living breathing Pele goddess mother of the Earth. Solstices occur twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is oriented directly towards or away from the Sun, causing the Sun to appear to reach its northernmost and southernmost extremes. The name is derived from the Latin sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still), because at the solstices, the Sun stands still in declination; that is, its apparent movement north or south comes to a standstill. This is ancient heiau, temple and place of offering and prayer.
In a word: Beautiful.
I love Native Hawaiian culture!
find all bullsh1t spread about Polynesians and burn the material. Do a haka to send off the Material and Roast a pig, you'll get rid of racist material AND ruin
life's work of historic idealology. Sounds extreme but new work is also based on old work
Catagorize your heart out, debate the issue til your blue the fact is the debate will carry on until you get rid of it.
Burn it all
Hawaiians are Polynesian by race and a sovereign country that was illegally taken over by America. Hawaii will soon again be recognized as a sovereign state and be able to send surfers and outrigger canoe teams to the Olympics.

By JeanMarx1982 [Affiliate User] 1210963820The concept of "connecting" our situation with that of other cultures is way to adapt to the current government and how we can get ourselves heard. This is just my opinion, and I'm sure others have theirs, but I don't think an American Indian would consider them selves "like" a Hawaiian just because we are a part of the American nation.
By malie96779 [Affiliate User] 1210764813The difference with both American Indians, Hawaiians and even Eskimos, is that the land we live on is "our" land. We were born here. We come from our "gods". Our land is our life. A similarity in all of our cultures is that we don't believe we "own" the land. We coexist on it with other beings. So when the initial contact came with foreigners, we were totally unprepared for the concept of "buying" or "claiming" land.
By malie96779 [Affiliate User] 1210764698I guess I have a different opinion on that. I'm not an Indian. I respect their beliefs and culture and like any indigenous society, there are similarities in cultural beliefs, life styles and religious practices. But to combine us all in to "Native Americans" is a bit much. There is no American people. American's are a mixture of people who come from their own home land.
By malie96779 [Affiliate User] 1210764606They aren't mainland Native Americans, but they are Native Americans, they are on America, the New Land, and they are the first to be on their land, therefore they are Native Americans, and Native Hawaiians are also part of the American Indian Movement, look it up yourself.

By kahunahawaii [Affiliate User] 1210618101Awesome!!!!!!!!! I'm transferring to UH in Spring of 09, so I decided to look up the non cleche' Hawaii and this is amazing, I'm soo glad that they are considered to be Native American, and it'll be surrounded by Natives who know that they are, unlike the mainland. It's going to be such a great experience. I'm not so worried about not being around my native culture anymore.
