i was way too young to remember this show but i do remember watching the reruns with my pop-pop! this show brings back so many memories. and John (Sr.) reminds me so much of all the pictures i've seen of my pop-pop when he was a younger man. thank you so very much for making/ posting this!!

I had the privilage to meet Ellen Corby, by chance, sitting in a shop near Farmer's Market in L.A., soon after the series end. A very sweet lady, with even sparklier blue eyes than we saw on the tv~ You're Ellen Corby, right?, said I. She motioned with a twinkle as if to say "Say again?" I did, adding You're MY Grandma TOO! She glowed, reaching up to hug me. She could hardly hear, or speak, but left me with a vivid memory of a special lady, just as we knew her to be :)

I think the show was created by Earl Hamner and was about his family. My all time favorite playboy was the one with Mary Ellen in it!

The family it was based on wasn't called Walton, but if you watch the credits carefully you will see the name of the person whose life it was based on. Thanks so much for posting this clip, the series wasn't everybody's cup of tea, but I loved it.

I STILL love this show, who ever did the casting, did a brilliant job. The characters where very real to me as a child. I envied life among the wilderness...I live in the mountains now but still have to envision that wonderful front porch the Waltons family had... (sigh)

Cool. Ralph Waite should have got an Oscar for underplaying his role. The rest was, pretty much, standard Culver City methedolody.

if you type in The Waltons in google you will see information on the real Walton Family and probably see pictures of the real house, general store, etc, the tour. If your ever in Virginia you should go there.
