Sorry, it took so long...Have been gone. If the baby is furred, eyes open and eating on its own then it is not a baby but a young adolescent. If female you should be able to see a "U" shaped area on her tummy that will later becaome the pouch. If male the testicle are visible. You can feed it things like beetles, crickets, berries and catfood is a good all around nutricious meal. They love pieces of fruit as well. (apple, grapes, ...)

There are many animals thatb share a common name such as the opossum but if you look it up by its scientific name you'll find what you need. "Didelphis Virginiana" is the North American opossum. The problem is most people would not know the scientific name...so you have to start goggling with the common name.

It's daft they have such similar names really. But not as annoying as New World (American) Porcupines and Old World (African, mostly) Porcupines sharing the same name - despite being completely different species. The American ones are like beavers, whilst the African ones are related to guinea pigs. Same with European magpies being completely different, not even slightly related, to the ones found accross the rest of the world. What IDIOT gave these things their names.

So thats how opossums walk...

Half nothing, they are marsupials, related to the kangaroo and koala, which people find so cute. Some people here in America judge all living things on looks. Actually opossums are much more beautiful than the majority of two legged human haters. Relax and enjoy their cuteness.
