Christopher Comins aka Dog Shooter

both dogs lived one lost an eye.
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- The Orange County Sheriff's Office has reopened an investigation into the videotaped shooting of a man's pet dogs after clips were posted on Local6.com and YouTube.

Chris Butler said his pet Siberian Huskies wandered into a nearby pasture located off Narcossee Road and were shot for no reason.

Video showed one of Butler's dogs being gunned down as it ran away from the shooter and another dog being shot while standing still in the field,

Butler said the neighbor continued to shoot while the dogs were on the ground.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office did not press charges against the shooter, who has been identified as Christopher Comins.

Comins does not own the land where the dogs were shot but claims he had permission from the owner to shoot the dogs.

According to state law, Florida property owners have the right to protect livestock from wild dogs and unleashed pets.

Butler's collared dogs got away while they were being walked before the shooting.

"He just wanted to kill them," Butler said. "That is what it boils down to. He just wanted to shoot them."

Butler said the dogs were harmless and would not have hurt anyone.

Butler has hired an attorney and is fighting to get Comins prosecuted.

Repeated attempts to contact Comins were unsuccessful,

  • As the dogs have ...

As the dogs have recovered, and the owner probably learned a lesson from his mistake, I am letting this go. I don't want him dead, but I do think he needs some slapping around. I hope I don't hear anything about this man ever again. Personally, I would've waited out there with the gun until they committed a punishable offense, but maybe he was just too big a coward, which isn't a crime. Unfortunately, the dogs paid for the owner's irresponsibility, and I hope he knows he is equally responsible.

  • Innocent?? He ...

Innocent?? He maimed animals that could not possibly know they are trespassing. That is absolutely sadistic. I could understand if they were attacking the livestock, but they posed no threat whatsoever, the piece of S**t just wanted to hurt them. Also, the owner was right there, so don't be such a F**king idiot, alright?? You're only going to piss me off more.

  • The man is innocent ...

The man is innocent. The video makes him look bad, but the video does not show the entire story. Read the reports and you will see.

How would you like it if your actions were judged by people jumping to conclusions after seeing such a pathetically small fraction of the evidence?

    You wouldn't.

The real criminal in this case is the dog owner.
