  • I agree. Sometimes ...

I agree. Sometimes spending $1.5 million to take out a single target is too much. The 16 inch gun updated with the same rocket assisted, gps guided technology that is used in the 155mm howitzer would extend the range and accuracy of the gun for more like $3000 per shot. More cost effective for the same killing power.

  • A bigger warhead is ...

A bigger warhead is great, the tomahawk is great- I'll build a shrine to the tomahawk if you want. The tomahawk for all of its wonderful virtues does not have the penetrationability as a mark 7 shell- and the tomahawk does not have the same kinetic energy. I guess its your sources versus mine- we disagree.

I wish they still made battleships with badass cannons like that. Using guided missiles feels like cheating.

  • With all due ...

With all due respect, the Tomahawk is a great and awesome weapon, no question, but it can be intercepted and shot down- a mark 7shell can't be, a tomahawk also lacks the penetration capability of the 2700 pound shell. If the Tomahawk was the ideal amphib support weapon then the marines, among others wouldn't have been sad to see them, or the 8" gunned cruisers go- and why bother developing the AGS 155 mm gun if the Tomahawk is the ideal amphib support weapon?.

No the Tico will use tomwak missiles on the beach. The Iowa ships have those missiles to but the Ticos have way more missiles.
