From their farewell concert in London July 7 1968."The carnival is over"And their carnival was really over. Not until 1993 did they get together again with Judith as a lead singer.
They then more or less performed concerts together until 2004.But the years are moving on for all of us and they have retired for good now as a group after having their last tour ever summer of 2004.It's said, that their last ever concert was in Hong Kong fall of 2004.The only performing members of The Seekers now is Keith Potger and Judith Durham. But they will never be forgotten by us that love their music.

Some news:Judith performed in Melbourne now december 1 and she will release a new CD sometime next year.(2008)

Latest news:Judith performed a wonderful two hours concert with The Queensland Orchestra in Brisbane on June 28.It's reported that Judith was in glorious voice.
Afterwards she talked to the fans and signed autographs.

The lyrics for "The Carnival is over" was written by Tom Springfield and the melody is based on a old Russian folk song.
Judith had to put up a real fight to get
this song recorded as the boys rather would
record another song called "Hummingbird"
instead. But she got her will and it was
recorded first time in 1965.At it's peak this single record was selling 93,000 copies a day in the UK.

  • The hauntingly ...

The hauntingly lovely voice of Judith Durham is even better than I remember it. The Seekers arrangements were always great. The Seekers are for some reason the forgotten stars of the 60's but they stand the test of time. Oh! - and I always did fancy Judith Durham when I was a schoolboy in the 60's when my friends didn't - but I can see why I was right and they were wrong!

  • I loved this song ...

I loved this song since I was teenager.
There was no tv set or record player in my family.
So I only heard from the radio. It was in the Radio Australia over and over.
I 've always imagined the female singer was beautiful as her voice ( I didn't even catched her name, I didn't either understood the words as English wasn't my native. I only guessed it was a goodbye song), until I saw her in this youtube , Judith Durham was turn out to be much more beautiful and lovely than I have imagined.

horatio 422006 - six months ago you asked "How good does the note she hits at 1:46-1:47 sound?" The reason you haven't received an answer from anyone is because there isn't an adjective that begins to describe it. "Perfection"?...nah."Beyond perfection"? ...getting warm.
