    Windows UI Tip: Double-clicking the window-control (aka system) menu will close the window (assumeing that its Close command is enabled). This is especially handy in 3.1 and earlier versions which don't have a close box. But is also usually works in the later versions (notable exceptions being some overly skinned apps, written my people who didn't RTFM).

    Win 3 didn't have a desktop either—at least not one that you could put files on, etc. The only thing that appeared on the desktop were running applications.

    Win95 (4.0) was the first consumer-market version that had a folder-like desktop. I think WinNT4 was the first NT to have one; but i don't actually know, as the earliest NT that i've used used is Win2k (NT5.0).

    Dos games won't work on XP properly and they won't run properly on VISTA too. But you could trying getting a DOS Emulator called "DOSBox" - with that program I was able to play good old doom2 at winXP and you can change the game speed and other things like memory, etc. as well...
