One of the great figures in Spanish dancing and flamenco, Antonio Gades won my heart in the film Carmen. The film is truly life imitating art as Antonio directs and choreographs a flamenco version of Bizet's Carmen Unfortunately, as I prepared to write and share this piece, I discovered Antonio Gades (Antonio Esteve Ródenas -- birth name) died of cancer in Madrid on July 20, 2004.
