Yes Changes
Ah, more of the boring old "Howe v Rabin" arguments that have gone on for 20 dang years. Two different styles, each great for their own purpose. "Leave it" at that. Expand your minds and learn to appreciate all of the Yes incarnations, they were and are a great band, among the best of all in modern music history, and on so many levels. I just saw Jon perform in the past two weeks, and he still sounds great and has a ton of energy.

By randomguyh8y [Affiliate User] 1205847424 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFYI: Rabin is almost entirely self-taught. That Howe is classically trained should be self-evident. And how can you possibly imagine that an 'abstract, assymetrical progressive' musician can't read sheet music? No band can last for 40 years without making songs that stick in people's heads! FYI: Music doesn't have to be a 'hit' to be popular. Your view is typical among Rabin era Yes fans, who have little understanding of the band's musical vision.

By katosushi [Affiliate User] 1205348248 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI am just saying that Rabin is a better guitarist then Howe because he was classically trained, can read sheet music, and understands the importance of a GUITAR RIFF! Guitar riffs are what generate hits, popularity, and the ability for a song to get stuck in your head. Steve Howe doesnt seem to understand that. I like him but his style is too abstract and asymetrical. Which is progressive yes, but not always the best tactic to use on every single song.Rabin has a better voice then Anderson too!!

By vivelavidarocka [Affiliate User] 1204829216 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHowe is classically trained. Mood for a day on the classical guitar proves it. Rabin is a good guitar player but not in the same league as steve howe.

Amazing band, sound, and music
....that you called "asimetrical" is the contratempo? (in spanish)
By guitarrofilo [Affiliate User] 1204657155 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethat's true, they are great.
But my own vision of Yes is it evolved with the personal interest of Squire to mix diferents rythms more simple than before
that's sad (I think)
pd: I'm from Chile and my languaje is Spanish, excuse my bad english
What I will say is that "music" is meant to be creative and thought-provoking and shouldnt really be judged, however when it comes to soley judging a guitarist on musical knowledge and versatility, Rabin has more musical experience and knowledge of the instrument. I'm also a fan of Howe too but both men have very different and unique styles. Rabin likes to use the scales and chord progression more as Howe prefers asymetrical note arrangements. Really music shouldnt be judged but guitar skill can
By buffboynick [Affiliate User] 1204612939 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeexplain that!
By guitarrofilo [Affiliate User] 1204612402 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeok, but with howe Yes acquired some experimental influence from jazz and other styles. Progresive, the essencial nature of Yes, not new wave.
if they made more "radio hits" with Rabin it is only possible because it became COMERCIAL
and, if wikipedia say that,is not a reliable fact, because everybody can modify this data.
Rabin is the better musician. He is classically trained. Howe is not. You can look it up on Wikipedia for yourself. Also Yes had more hits with Rabin in the band then Howe. FYI
By buffboynick [Affiliate User] 1204559131 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removesteve howe is a better guitar player, its is a copy of "watersless' pink floyd" and scorpions.
By guitarrofilo [Affiliate User] 1204539920 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI think it's safe to assume that he likes the band.
By whiterobin [Affiliate User] 1204489531 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveT Rabin was the less interesting player of their history. This song is good though.
