hi dr. zarkloff,
please please help! we are renting an apartment and our landlord has installed our window unit in such a way that it would be hard to remove it. however, we may soon die because of the awful awful fish stench coming from the air conditioner so i would find a way to remove it if i had to! so far i have cleaned all filters and grills and have hosed down (water only) and dusted the condensor and evaporator coils. the unit has vents on the portion of the hangs outside the window, so i could kind of hose off the blower wheel and other inside non- electrical components. i also poured bleach into the condenser tray to kill whatever could be growing - but after two days or so, the smell comes back (plus i am worried i will kill us because we'll be inhaling fumes). is there something else that could be making things smell so darned awful? is there a way to clean the coils without removing the unit from the wall?
thanks Dr Zarkloff!
LMAO... I didn't do it! my husband did! but it's good to know what not to do and what you should do~! :)

By DrZarkloff [Affiliate User] 1215396659 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveVery good. You're absolutely right. I was going to say something about it. But then, I figured that it might not make such a good TV stand if you did that.:)
By DrZarkloff [Affiliate User] 1215396622 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei was told setting a window ac on its back like the viewer has hers is bad for the compressor as the oil separates from the freon and that you should sit it back up the right way for at least 24 hours before turning it on for the season is this true?
