i have to disagree the 80,s and 90's music sucked i mean there were some good and some great songs in every era and but compaired to the 60's and 70's the error was blah lets see how the 2000'and 2010 match up i don't think they can but mabey

this music carves a feeling of a time and a place in one soul to reflect on when listen to . Take`s you back to a feeling in the soul . Kinda an alone feeling at times with the sax.. or its just to much pot?

Stuck Hwy 405 in traffic where you can only move 5 mph (or less)- roll down the windows and crank up the CD player as loud as those factory speakers will bear and let "Aja" raft through the atmosphere....somehow people stranded in the cars around you will suddenly mellow out, the bottle neck seems to loosen up and the cat passing by in the lime green bug salutes you with the peace sign and other neighborly gestures of thanks for saving an otherwise monotonous commute home.

I named my daughter Aja after this song & album shes 10 now and a very good Artist the name fits her perfect, its a beautiful name and I want to find out about the history why? Steely Dan named it, did they know a Aja? If anyone has info. please post. Thanks

LOL - also nearly 50. Disagree with first post, because at the time disco came in, punk (and proto new wave) was also coming in from NYC and later, Britain. This was the beginning of so-called modern rock and some very good years of music they were, IMO. '80s and '90s had some good stuff.

But I would like to know in today's pop music, the 2% that you are talking about - even if it is just rehashed classic rock, punk, fusion, new wave, grunge, post whatever, neo, proto this or that.

I'm almost that old, but it's not true. About 2% of contemporary pop music is good, and that's about the same as always... the advantage of older music is just that we've forgotten most of the rest of it.
