haha.. i couldn't fit it all in one message..
in the song she is speaking to one lost individual.. reminding him of his culture, telling him "you're one of us, you were born in this song, so you should live in it.. live in the drum.. " .. again alluding to the fact that music in this case, and in most cases, can be a strong connective force between the human and his/her roots no matter how far they may originate.

i take it as more of a calling to her culture, her race which has been suppressed for so long due to slavery in the west. She calls out "it was a lie when they told you you were stuck here forever (out west) , there all alone, the music's beggin' to bring us together" and more.. "you've been away and now you won't dance, it's the only way back to your homeland" suggesting that the heavy drum beat, the basis of cultural african music, is what connects them all.

well after looking at the lyrics, it seems like it's about living in the beat of music, dancing (and inviting the guy she likes to dance with her and to stop pretending he's too cool to dance lol) and living your life with the passion for that beat and that music, the power of the music over your emotions...plus love- she says the guy will never be alone and that the music is bringing them together etc. Just my thoughts :)
