Israel's a theocracy? Okay. There's no point in arguing with you. If you are in such obvious denial of facts, then there's nothing to talk about.
Israel's not a theocracy by any rational definition of the word.
As a Jew, Come by Here My Lord , should be a joyful music to your ears.
Why make derisive comments about HOLY SONGS?
Not a good way to promote peace and understanding!
I show respect for spiritual songs and ceremonies of other religions, even if I don't understand them.
Besides, considering the genuis and success of Jewish songwriters in North America, if the truth were known, this song might find its origins in tin pan alley.
Also theocractic gov'ts like most of the Arab
states' and in
Isreal, wars, exploitation, poverty, hunger etc.......
Maybe you need to start singing Kumbaya after all!!!!
It sounds like you didn't read my response,
Baez has RARELY, IF EVER sung this Christian
song for DECADES. She even explains to people,I'd just sing it in
places like Bosnia
(during the war).
The date on this video is Christmas 1980.
People still do
sing it in churches and at campires (Jewish too!) all over the world;
it is first and foremost a spiritual song.
Why do you continue to lie I gave you the stats? YOUR %s
do not match.
You harbor a faulty definiton of "history
As I said those Dixicrats have now become the RED states. Who cares a biggot is a biggot-
Dem or Repub. Baez has always sought change from left AND right wings wherever violence
or exploitation taks place.
Your theory on racism being over
is as coo
coo as your math; things are greatly improved ,obviously in the US,but certainly not in the Mideast, Africa, Bosnia, etc..!
What's past is past. It has been many years since the last time I met a real life racist. I have been all over the South and everybody who takes one look at me can tell I'm a Jew. Nobody has had anything negative to say. I have also spoken with many southerners and I have met not one racist.
Those who currently sing Kumbaya are living in the past. We must fight today's battles today-- creeping big government and Islamism. To do otherwise is irresponsible.
I thought it would be obvious that it was a joke that I "train my daughter to beat up people who sing Kumbaya." First of all, it's a pretty silly idea, not to mention illegal. Second, my daughter is only three years old and would undoubtedly be very bad at beating people up.

In the 26 major civil rights votes after 1933, a majority of Democrats opposed civil rights legislation in over 80 percent of the votes. By contrast, the Republican majority favored civil rights in over 96 percent of the votes.
Johnson didn't have to push Civil Rights through. It was VERY popular outside the white south.
I'm sorry if I misspoke. A higher PERCENTAGE of Republicans voted for civil rights than Democrats. Remember, they were a minority party in '64.
GeneralSon,
The boring, very tedious personal attacks("Baez worshipper") when you have run out of logical or factual contributions are a "tad" below your level of discourse.
Please direct comments about the music or the subject to me( as you have generally done in the past) otherwise.....TOOO BORING !

GeneralSon,
Debating a blogger(arlemagne) who trains his daughter to beat up people who sing the "just bad" Kumbaya (that means Judith too--watch out) does not mean I worship Baez.
Taking issue to your contention that Baez
applying a new line to this song ( a healthy and traditional part of the 'folk process') is inappropriate or showboating, is not "worshipping", but defending (just like you for the "I want to teach the world to sing") crew
I never have dared tried to limit your posts,
I'm amused by your flawed but admirable loyalty to the minor pop singer and her boys--that you hail as the "best" on all these sites.
I just think your praise of military personal is a "tad" irrelevant on a BAEZ KUMBAYA site.
Knowledge and defense of a GREAT singer and
human rights activist does not = worship.
PS I guess your love of guns and military is just irrepressible, so have at it, no matter how irrelevant to this singer's film clip.
taddyd1, I enter my comments where I please and you have no say in the matter. Besides, it will do you some good to have a reality check. Judging by your long-winded worshipful posts concerning Baez, you have not been acquainted with sanity for some time.
Do you have an altar to Baez at each corner of your home? You must spend considerable time in front of them, judging by all your messages!
Get a life, Man!
Then go enter that information on military blogs, this one happens to be for singers.
Baez is much more than merely a singer BTW, she braved Hanoi, during the heaviest bombing in the history of the planet earth ( along with a miltary minister & others, singing Christmas Carols for & delivering nearly a ton of letters to the American POWS that the US was bombing), visited Bosnia (pre-Hillary) among many other acts of courage (without a gun at her side)
JD covers songs w/cheesy arrangements.
taddyd1, there is no human being worthy of worship. To keep a reality perspective, let's keep in mind that both Baez and Durham are merely singers.
There are young kids who moved into the guns at hell holes like Tarawa, Normandy or Inchon, whose names we will never know, who accomplished more than all the singers in history lumped together.
