By tkw2255 [Affiliate User] 1205542890 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethey should have set up cameras on the inside facing the cockpit so we could see what it would be like on the inside :P
By tylervanballegooyen [Affiliate User] 1205328786 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveScary to see the nose gear flip and impale the lower fuselage. Not where I would want to be sitting.
By evilintel [Affiliate User] 1205171040 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt's the same plane, shot with different cameras. The paint scheme is not meant to be pretty. Its to help the investigators accurately measure the the location of any damage. You can find a photo of what this looked like in TWA service if you use a search engine in image mode and the words TWA Starliner, 1649A, or Constellation.
By Propliner1955 [Affiliate User] 1205098251 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFirst, don't feel too bad. This occurred back in September, 1964, when they were considered merely old, not yet classic. It was an FAA test crash. Place: Deer Valley, near Phoenix. The plane is an L-1649A Starliner--last of the Constellation series, reg. N7307C. It was bought by the FAA from TWA for a mere $38,000. Seven years earlier it was purchased new by TWA for approx. $2.5 million! Formerly a pilot,I flew a sistership in 1980,N8083H, which is now in Auburn, Maine, along with N7316C.
By Propliner1955 [Affiliate User] 1205097617 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI have to agree ... shame to use a Constellation for a test like this. This can't be that old with all the slow motion cameras used. This should be prohibited! Why not use a old 727 from Mojave desert to try what ever they where testing on this nice old lady!!!!! I love planes ... they should be preserved ...

By Mav1843 [Affiliate User] 1204518713 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveImpressive video, but anyone else feel very sad that a graceful old lady like a Constellation should end it's life like this?
The different dust is most likely die packs put in different areas to simulate fuel vapour spread (notice it coming out of various areas of the wings...although the blue is too far out for fuel tanks in the wings) or possibly debris.
Still a damn shame...
Obviously its a test. I was joking. You are a dummy.
By jamesandrew2000 [Affiliate User] 1204475410 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveOk. First, this is not a scheduled flight, so for any of you that are saying that you were on that flight, your wrong. As you can see on the runway, there are things that are supposed to collapse the landing gear. Also, you can see the mound of dirt at the end of the runway to absorb the impact. Clearly a intentional test. Plus, the Lockheed Constellation has been out of service for about 50 years.

By Revenge4RS [Affiliate User] 1203697822 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThat test saved many lives
By segregator236 [Affiliate User] 1203688792 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveTo bad on a nice classic Lockheed constellation, can't be many of em left that still fly's. But I'm sure that test served some sort of purpose...

By Awaysheh [Affiliate User] 1203621138 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveDude, for every invention, there must be a PREVENTION. How would you feel if a flawed prototype of this crashed in a LIVE FLIGHT and killed everyone on board?
By segregator236 [Affiliate User] 1203541663 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt makes me so mad they crashed this jet on purpose. It could have been used to take college kids on spring break to Honolulu or Cancun. I'll be in college next year and I could have rode this very jet to my first college spring break in Cancun.
