Beginner Guitar Lesson: Barre Chords

no it isn't the right way to do it, hes tilting his index finger into the fret but it looks like hes pushing the wrong bit. just tilt your finger out abit when you plat =)

I notice his index finger (pointing finger) presses onto the...silver metal thingy, instead of the fret itself...is that the right way to do it? someone help!

barre chords is a pain in the ass to learn.
i used many days to get it right .

hey anyone help? i can get E, A, and D easily enough, but not e, B or G. it's impossible. also, i cant seem to remember where the creases in my fingers are, even 5 seconds after i just looked at them

mine sound ok but after about 10 seconds it feels like my thumb will snap off

im not really a metal guy XD but I love the sound of electric guitars.

Depends on what you want to learn. They are right that it would be a better base to learn off acoustic, but it isn't that big of a deal. But if you're like me and don't have any money to spare getting another guitar a few months down the line when you want to play metal music, I'd recommend electric.

if i had it to do again, (buying my first guitar, that is) i would buy an archtop, or acoustic electric. you have some of the tone of an acoustic, and the option to plug it in. get the best you can afford without buying something that is too nice to play. keep it out in the room you hang out in the most, dont put it away in a closet. then play it every chance you get...

acoustic guitar is harder to play, but if you practice that first, then it will make it easier for you to play an electric guitar, so I suggest that you go for an acoustic for starters. But still, if you start with an electric, I wouldnt be much of a problem.
