Quaker Parrot Talking

This is true. I have a Quaker - Goo is his name - and he turns 20 this year. I've had him since I was 12 years old.

its really strange becasue all the quakers ive seen on here have high pitches. mine is lower

For anybody who has an older bird that doesn't talk, my quaker (who is 9) didn't talk til she was 2 or 3. You never know. Like people, they have minds of their own.

I had a Quaker... he would meow like a cat... he'd say 'Stop it' if you got too close to his cage... he'd tell the dog to 'Shut up' when it started barking... and if you offered him a little snack (depending on whether he liked you or not, lol) he'd cuss ya... lol He was something else.

i also have one who will be two jun. 18th

that is the most annoying thing whenever your sitting in another room and here them doing the kiss noises for two hours straight non stop, and yelling every word they know.

you might want to be careful doing that because I've heard stories of birds holding in a poop because they weren't told to go, and causing organ damage, so make sure if you let someone else take care of your bird, that they know to give the poop command

Just be patient. :) Some of them take a while to start talking, I've heard of some that don't say their first word until they are between 1-2years old... but on the other hand some never talk and are just really good at sound effects, it all depends on the bird. :) Also, some of them are "closest talkers" and choose not to talk in front of people, so you can set up a camera and see what happens when you're not home. :D Good luck!

my bird is a year and 3 months and he only makes sounds. how do you get them to talk? he repeats whistles and my sisters bird when it squawks, but no words just yet.

If your holding your bird watch it when it fluffs up right before a poop, grab it and take it to the bathroom hold it over the sink and say "poop" This is how I trained my quaker to poop on comand and he will say the word when he goes.

Old!?!? No no, she's not that old. Her age is in the description... at the time the video took place, she was 10 months old, and in her new video, titled "Peek-a-boo", she is 16 months. Both still very young ages since they live to be around 25-30 years of age.

The Blue quakers are very pretty :). And he will start talking a lot soon. Give him a few months. Just keep talking to him, SING to him. We sing to Ryan often and that's how he started. One day he just started to finish our songs :P. They are recording things...you just don't know it til you leave the room one day and they repeat it :P.

Everytime she'd poop we'd tell her to 'go poop' and after a few times she caught on and now she tells herself all the time! She rarely goes on us any more... we put her back on the cage or in another appropriate spot every 15ish minutes and tell her to go and she does...

Quakers cost anywhere between $300 and $800 Candian dollars (I guess thats between 3000 and 8500 Kroons?) depending on where you get them (breeder/petstore/rehome) and what colour they are. Greens are the cheapest and the blues are more expensive (there are rare colours that cost a ton more!) Ringnecks are much cheaper I believe, however in my opinion, I would choose a Quaker over a Ringneck any day! :D

how much usually Quaker coasts ? is it a big difference between ringneck and quaker ?
