    It's a good job they didn't have to scramble in a hurry to intercept an incoming raid if it takes that long to get the thing going. You just need to crank a Merlin over a couple of revolutions and it's away.

    Kinda reminds me starting my old kick start Harley cold...just enought choke,crank to compression-then kick start careful not to give too much gas or it will back fire through carb.burnt up a few air cleaner elements in my time. Very nice clip.

    That is so true. I've got a tad over 1,000 hrs behind 1340's in B model Cats and a 301, and I LOVE em! But, knowledgeable radial pilots AND mechanics who can work on them are a dying breed. Fortunately I learned from an OLD ag pilot who had thousands of hours on radials.
