This is from the Stadthalle Offenbach Concert that took place 1978.
He had it coming? Does that mean he deserved to die? I don't really know much about this, but kicking his ass is one thing, but beating him to death? He had it coming?

Jaco is buried at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery in North Lauderdale.
BTW, it was the Bouncer, Jaco had it coming.

What happened to the SOB that killed him?
By Stealthy71 [Affiliate User] 1201178049 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeon n'a jamais fait mieux dans la fusion jazz -funk-rock !
By Gintodalbert [Affiliate User] 1201063953 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWell his playing more represents a clapton like figure, than a hendrix type of guy,and I think Victor Wooten would more be like a hendrix type of guy, more funk in them, plus clapton is my favorite guitar player.

By hynneke [Affiliate User] 1201011271 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNo I did not, sir.
By Beefgog [Affiliate User] 1201010998 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNo... You mean Hendrix!
By hynneke [Affiliate User] 1200972526 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYeah I know :S It was some monkey that knew martial arts and beat him to death. I could never say he deserved it(couse I love Jaco, his playing is the best),but it's a sure thing that he was kind of asking for something like this to happen. But I agree that the guy that killed him, should have been in jail for the rest of his life.

By MoNoMoreMomO [Affiliate User] 1200763694 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveListening to this song again, you really get an appreciation for what Zawinul was trying to do.You listen intently, close your eyes and your watching miles play or Coltrane tune up at Birdland.
Jaco was ground breaking on this song.He pitched the idea of the harmonic lick opening and the skat yell during the chorus.
Joe Zawinul died last year in September...give one silent listen for the creator of a fusion classic!!!
Jaco is the bass Clapton.
By Beefgog [Affiliate User] 1200757750 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI love Wayne Shorter. Song reminds me of my dad.

By d2theutchgold2 [Affiliate User] 1200653267 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeis it just me thats noticed how similar this song is to the "whose line is it anyway" themetune?
By tomlewis1 [Affiliate User] 1200641380 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveJazz Fusion at it's zenith!
At the risk of dating myself, I had/have
"Heavy Weather" on 8 track. It played well on my quadraphonic system in my Dodge Charger.
Jaco is a Genius!!!
The prick who killed him shouldn't have lived past that day.
this is so much better than the album version it just kind of floats along. this is when you know you have a good band when everybody just works together perfectly there isn't a single beat of or sour note in this song
By NLSWITCH [Affiliate User] 1200455371 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethis spirit of creative freedom is what attracted me to jazz.

By gotbass33727 [Affiliate User] 1200214519 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis track is a great examplt of why Weather Report (esp. with Jaco) rocked. They all knew that they we're great players and didn't have to prove it anymore. They didn't need a million notes to prove that they knew how to play a great song and GROOVE!
