Solidworks V8 Engine

Absolutely awesome. I've spent a little time fiddling with Solidworks so I know how hard that would have been to do.

Nice to see what SW can do. I've been dumped in front of a powerful PC at work and told to design things without any training on SW. I used to use CAD a long time ago. I'd like to buy SW for my home PC (powerful) but don't have that much cash (I bet its horrendously priced in GBP). Shame there isn't a Mac version either. Grrrr! Bummer!

well.. yeah.. you're right.. as i am.. why dont you read it in wikipedia? originally it was called Drafting, not its design because it does more than just the draft, also could be CADD

CAD means Computer Aided Design. Cad means Computer aided drafting I think.

I dont believe there is any need to call posters "idiots". I also do not see any posts calling this CAE.

The fact it`s pretty impossible for anyone to do a fully engineered engine design in 50 hours has also been discussed. Fairly obvious really.

CAD is focused on modeling, assembly, and rendering, CAE is focused on calcutating stresses, strains, deformations, temperatures, etc. using either FEM or other methods for analysis. So, as a a Mechatronics Engineer with two degrees that I am, let me tell you that this is a very good CAD project (understand Computer Aided DRAFTING, not ENGINEERING)

how do you get it so shiny or is it just with the animated film?

"typically discussed in bars by drunk people" that is true. I was more like asking that why is that engine still developed, and not something new. Making electric cars with the same performance as current ones with int. comb. engine is not possible I think? There is no efficent enough battery?
Even we here in Filnland know, that MIT and Oxford are THE places where the good stuff comes :) .. I though so anyway... But no, still the same old safe stuff, no courage to seek new tech..
