Synopsis and Credits:
A homage to Akira Kurasowa Samurai Movies such as Seven Samurai and Yojimbo, Short Samurai Epic 2 is the sequel to an even shorter samurai movie made in flash the year before which was not release to the internet.
Baring no plot continuation or reoccurring characters, Short Samurai Epic 2 is a stand alone 7 minute practice film shot for fun and to hone my then newly burgeoning directing and cinematography skills. There is a sequel in the works however is not going to be related to either this or Mini Samurai Teaser. The music used in the background is Alfred Reed's "A Northern Legend".
Toy lightsabers were used because thats what we were best at using at the time. We didn't have any bokkens or katanas at the time and we didn't want to spend time choreographing so we went with what we knew and improved all the fighting. However our improvisations were more based in Star Wars style fighting so I as the director told my actors to tone things down a bit to look more reasonable. However, the fighting came off a little crippled and awkward looking (however not as bad as Mini Teaser, which pulled us even further from our comfort zones).

Other Stuff:
A short samurai flick i made for my dad's birthday. I'v been told its dark in some spots, so turn up your monitor's brightness heh. Music is by Alfred Reed, its called Northern Legend. Dont worry about the lightsabers, the little katanas we had look to retarded, so we had to use these, another thing, yes, i can see that there are houses and my watch in the shot, get over it, and another thing, the triangles you see in the beginning is lense flare, for some reason i have trianglular lenseflare, odd. i filmed the majority of it, a friend did the parts that i was in, i was the guy with two swords
good advice, imo

By Tobanaman [Affiliate User] 1206130346 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNot bad film work, but the sword fights were pretty cringe-worthy.

By Tobanaman [Affiliate User] 1184029617 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt was supposed to be less of a Hack'n'slash and more of an homage to Akira Kurasowa
By Tobanaman [Affiliate User] 1184029550 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis video was too long and boring. Too many scenes of uninteresting events. Needs more creative camera shot angles. A lot more close ups would've made it for me.
The music began to irritate me as well.
Great idea, could have been better. If it was more compressed into a 3 minute short, it would have been more effective and impacting instead of a 7 + minute epic of walking around and a few fight scenes.
keep trying, consider this as constructive criticism
I gave you credit "a friend did the parts that i was in, i was the guy with two swords" lol
