The Keukenhof is a famous flower park northwest of Lisse, a small town south of Haarlem and southwest of Amsterdam. It is located in an area called the "Dune and Bulb Region" (Duin- en Bollenstreek).

In the 15th century, the park was a part of the castle Keukenhof and served as a garden. In it were grown ingredients for the kitchen; so it got its name 'Keukenhof'.
Nowadays it is a large flower garden where growers from all over the Netherlands and Europe show their products.
There are more than 7 million flower bulbs planted annually in the park, like krokussen, daffodils, tulips, hyacinths and lilies.
Keukenhof is open annually from the last week in March to mid-May. The best time to view the tulips is around mid-April, depending on the weather.
