What kind of reasoning is this. Yes, Lewis lost to Biggs in the quarter final of the '84 Olympics, but Tyson didn't even get to those Olympics because he lost to Henry Tillman twice! Does that make Tillman a better fighter than Tyson? You have to understand that you can't compare amateur and professional boxing. Besides, in '84, Lennox was only 18 years old, compared to a 23 year old Biggs.

did u know biggs gave lewwis a beating in the olympics! also lewwis sparred with tyson in new york, ask anybody lewwis was knocked out of the ring... so if lewwis had trouble with biggs in the 80's what makes u think he could beat a prime tyson!

Secondly, it's true that they sparred together in Catskill when they were both amateurs and still in their teens, and it's also true that Tyson overwhelmed Lewis in the first round (simply because Lewis wasn't used to Tyson's bull-like style), but after the first round, Lewis was able to control Tyson.

First of all, Lewis stayed in the amateur ranks because he wanted an olympic gold medal. Besides, how in the hell was Lewis supposed to know when Tyson would be in his prime and when he would be over the hill. Lewis turned pro immediately after the '88 Olympics, right at the peak of Tyson's career (the annihilation of an overrated Michael Spinks). That's proof that he wasn't afraid of Tyson.

did you know kewwis is older then tyson, he stayed out of the pro leage because in the 80's lewwis sparred tyson and was knocked out of the ring..he waited had he fought tyson in this area he gets ko'd.

The best part about this video is if you look on the left hand side of the screen after the first knockdown (about the 6:00 mark) you can see Oprah covering her face in horror. I remember watching the fight live. You won't see her at any fights these days.

tyson is not in the top 5.....he would have been easily but for various circumstances....jail, don king...etc etc...cannot be considered top 5.....but i agree with statements that he would hav beaten most comers in 86-88

Michael Spinks is an all-time great LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT. As a heavyweight he lost twice to Holmes (even though the judges gave it to Spinks), he beat a nobody in Steffen Tangsted and an almost retired Gerry Cooney. I agree that Tyson in his prime ('86-'89) was a great fighter, but three good years don't justify a place in the all-time top five.

Tyson defeated two all time greats:Holmes and an undefeated Michael Spinks. Mike could beat anybody in 88 because he was on a mission to be the best. under kevin rooney Iron Mike was a boxing machine...Holmes was so confident that he was gonna KO Tyson...no excuse for losing...in my book Tyson is in the top 5 heavyweights. Ali is number one just because he had a great career but i honestly think a prime Tyson would beat any boxer in history

Leon Spinks was a bumb (he lost 17 of his 46 fights). The fact that Ali lost to him is proof that he should have quit after the Rumble. But Ali did fight and beat guys like Foreman, Frazier and Norton, who are all time greats. Tyson beat one all time great heavyweight, namely Larry Holmes, but Holmes was 38 at the time, and hadn't fought in 2 years.

Ok,well I guess the 70s era of the heavyweight was weak also? Eh? Ya know since the 6-0 Spinks got a shot of the Undisputed Title against Ali also.I GOT YA THERE,CANT DISAGREE WITH THAT.haha. A gold medal goes a long way. Or even the 19-0 Ali fighting Sonny Liston. Now quit the hate on Tyson.;)

Tyrell Biggs was 15-0 against bums, and he got a shot at the undisputed heavyweight title. That to me is proof of the weakness of the heavyweight division in the late eighties. There just weren't any big (240 pounds) guys around who could box and punch, like Riddick Bowe and Lennox Lewis. If David Tua had been around in those days in stead of Tyson, he would be considered a legend today, now he's just another contender.
