They were supposed to initiate in his name, just as the Apostles were to do all things in Jesus' name. I know that Guru puja is no longer done, but in peoples hearts their is still guru worship. The problem is that, when the very foundation of the relgion has been either distorted or completely corrupted, then all aspects of it must be corrupted. What happen with the 11 gurus after (and before) Prabupads death can not compare with the execution of the final orders Jesus gave to his Apostles. These orders, by all accounts, were carried out. Unlike Prabupads. The Gurus changed the religion when he died.
