Marc Burch hard foul on David Beckham. Los Angles Galaxy vs. DC United Saturday 09 - 20 - 2008.

"I told the linesman that I didn't think it was a red card," Beckham said. "He took a hack at me and a push and my momentum just carried me into the sign board. It wasn't a red card, but they wouldn't hear of it and that's what happened."

Sometimes, the official is left with no choice but to send off the offending player. In this case, if the player hadn't kicked the opponent when the ball was clearly out of touch, it would not have been as bad.

Das kann ich dir erklären, da ich selber Schiedsrichter bin. Wie man sehen kann, wird Beckham erst getreten als der Ball schon im Aus war, was der SR-Assistent auch anzeigt. Daher ist dies kein Foul, sondern wird als Tätlichkeit ausgelegt. Es gibt Rot und das Spiel wird anschließend ganz normal fortgesetzt.
