A lot of people think this wouldn't work only because they are watching it happen to someone else. If it was done to you, you would be too disorientated to react, and end up on your back confused, unless of course you knew it was going to happen.

By Snakeguevara [Affiliate User] 1215672685 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIndeed, if you learn it completely its very effective. This is for a very specific situation. They have for different moves, even if you are trying to attack them with Tae Kwon Do, boxing, or brutal force, they have moves either to stay away from you or take you to the ground.
By gac18 [Affiliate User] 1215667699 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis is a very effective move when a retarded person who has never been in a fight comes running at you in slow motion with their arm straight out. If you actually want to be able to defend yourself you might want to train real combat arts like BJJ, kickboxing, wrestling...

By bufantas [Affiliate User] 1215646569 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveErrr, I am a cop and the most taught would be wrestling and jits.
By michaelgrimm [Affiliate User] 1215642753 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIf some one ever tried that techniques on me I would die from laughter. Akido and the rest of the Mcdojo martial arts are crap! Unproven crap.
By michaelgrimm [Affiliate User] 1215642646 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeactually, as long as the man was unarmed, u will be tried for murder. a story and the truth are two different tales my friend :)
By ikijah [Affiliate User] 1215641051 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNot in my state. If I kill you, I can make sure my story sounds very good. "I was afraid for my life and I only did what any reasonable man would do in the same situation" *cries*

By ikijah [Affiliate User] 1215636318 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeif someone carried out that technique full power against you , you would die from a ruptured larynx
By bufantas [Affiliate User] 1215618240 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removehmmmmm can only comment from personal experience. Have 25 years training in striking arts and 15 years aikido. Most aikido very stylised but the core of it is highly effective and deadly. Probably if you are only going to devote a few years to learning an art then , you are correct , western boxing is seriously good for self defence , mainly because being hit hard doesnt faze you .Gracie Jiujitsu great too , if you can hack the training. Better be ready for some bruises.
By bufantas [Affiliate User] 1215618156 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeaikido seems like it would only work in a choreographed situation..like in a Stevan Segal movie haha.. HOnestly ive had some limited experience with different martial arts and found many of them to be impractical. the most pracitcal (NOT SAYING THEIR THE BEST) for me are Boxing, wrestling, kickboxing, Krav Maga, Arnis, and Gracie Jiujitsu.
By ggblue35 [Affiliate User] 1215616650 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei am learning akido and i learned this techniqe in my second lesson also i saw a couple thing he did diferently then when we practice this.
By sasugay753 [Affiliate User] 1215609666 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyou, sir, could not be more wrong. As you said, you have limited time, and Aikido takes a lot of constant practice to become useful. I've done it for seven years, and have obtained the rank of sho-dan. I have used it in fights. it is one of the most taught and used arts among the police forces in America. Not only does it protect your life, there will be almost a slim to none chance of you getting in trouble with the law because you never actually struck the person.
By d0s23 [Affiliate User] 1215606319 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHey folks, I've got tons of other aikido videos on YouTube and Expertvillage. Check them out because in my opinion, they have much more to offer than just this one clip. Thanks a million for viewing my stuff!!!

By MackaliMesut [Affiliate User] 1215596429 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI just carry a gun. I can stop multiple attackers just by showing it, or pulling the trigger a couple of times. I could handle one, maybe two guys if I am doing great, but lets be honest, having a gun equalizes anything.
By labartic [Affiliate User] 1215588347 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhat is up with the Amstel beer advertisement? Bruce Lee believed in staying away from foods with empty caloric content and little nutritive value and found it especially helpful to avoid refined sugars, excessive fats, fried food and alcohol, also alcohol slows your reflexes.
By catsmithyu [Affiliate User] 1215579116 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveShure, and after a few years you should be at Dan level right? and aikidoka at dan level knows how to defend themselves without any problems. It is useful for self defense, but mostly at higher levels.
By Morgothhhh [Affiliate User] 1215575557 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveAikido is a moving meditation, like tai chi or qi gong. It uses trad. japanese jujitsu movements to teach deeper lessons about life. It is NOT useful for self-defense. I practiced it for several years. If you have limited time as a student, and your main concern is self-defense learn 2 box. Of the 4 fights I've been in as an adult, boxing won me all of them, all guys bigger than me, 2 with 2 guys at once. MuayThai/BJJ/Wrestling very good, but basic boxing is easier to learn and apply.
By vwgolf1991 [Affiliate User] 1215561914 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYes, demonstrations look really fake, but theyre just demonstrations, the best thing would be to have a camera follow someone and have him apply this things to a real life situation while the camera tapes it, but still..
Ive gotten an interest in Aikido a while ago, Im searching for a school.
I want to be able to protect the people that Im with, Im in college and college guys really love to pick up fights, I dont like to, but Id like to be ready and defend my friends and loved ones.
kicking ass!!
