nice video and awsome advise on the grease packing removal! I've even gotten ahold of a story of a guy throwing his stock in the dishwasher no soap dont recomend it though! but anyway's awsome video and my request would be a full rifle cleaning rather than a strip down video. you know i wana see hopps9 gettin worked on it. but anyway's yeah i know how the bolt/bolt carrier can be a hastle and i had to learn the hard way about the safety lever! great vid and hoping for more! thanks

elal757, Your a rock star! Very informative video. I second that request. The bolt is a pain in the ass to try and take apart. a video on that would be great. Keep up the good work!

  • Great videos! I ...

Great videos! I would offer a suggestion though - it seems like 90% of the SKS owners out there never take the time to disassemble the bolt, and clean the cosmoline out of the firing pin channel or from behind the extractor. This eventually leads to misfires, or worse - slamfires - because over time the cosmoline acts like a sponge, attracting dirt and carbon and eventually seizing up the works. A video on how to disassemble, clean and reassemble the bolt would be a great help to SKS newbs.

Glad it helps. These rifles are a lot of fun, and for the price I think everyone should have one. A cheap plinker and great for new shooters. Cleaning the cosmoline isn't hard, just messy. Make sure you have some time and a set of clothes that you don't really care a whole lot about!

guns are dangerous, just like cars, chainsaws, kitchen knives, etc. They can all kill you or cause serious injury. However, used properly they are no worse than a book.

I just don't want someone that's inexperienced trying to explain a hole in the wall with "Well this guy on youtube...."

just wipe it off and spray it with oil. If you have an air compressor, you can blow it off too. Otherwise it really won't hurt anything.
