I think the idea is that yeah his mom is dead and he can't go back and change things.

The end of the video is Justin the real guy saying "dudes, it is just a song to think about, my mom's not really dead-here she is" ... kind of to soften the blow of the harsh reality of the song that you better take care of things now before it's too late...
