  • mastshke, most of ...

mastshke, most of the presidents are related, as are their wives. It's a dynasty. Even Barack Obama is connected. George Bush Jnr's wife is descended from a President, and on it goes. They are also related to England's Royal Family.

Yes, when Jackie died so did the history of Camelot. As the song goes, "there's simply not a more congenial spot for happily-ever-aftering than here in Camelot."

  • I am not an idiot, ...

I am not an idiot, I help families bury loved ones everyday, and have had several who wanted their mom buried with dad at the VA Cemetery, but if they had remarried , that was out the window, just being a first lady does not give you the right to be buried at Arlington, only if the President signs off on it. And yes, it costs all tax payers to maintain all National Cemeteries.

  • I went to ...

I went to Washington this summer and I visited the Kennedys' gravesite and it was beautiful. I felt some pain after seeing JFK's tomb, because I've read some books about his life and most of it about his assassination.

If you go to Washington someday, visit Arlington Cemetery, it's worth it and it's free.

I had forgot that Mrs. Kennedy was a dependent of Robert E. Lee. Interesting how our great country is so inter mingled.

  • You know, normally ...

You know, normally in a National Cemetery, if a widow of a veteran has remarried she loses her right to be buried with the former veteran. But of Course when you are a Kennedy, you don't have to follow rules, or if you are a former First Lady. But if you or I lose a spouse...well, you know. Arlington is different than most National Cemeteries anyway. The President can order anyone he deems, to be buried there.

I was almost five when she died and I was too young to grasp the fact that her funeral was in NYC, near my home in northern NJ. That was a sad time for America, especially in the Tri-state area, where I once lived. :(
