I agree Blakbonez. Good music transcends racial barriers. Her voice just makes me feel so good and calm inside. Sad that her life was spiraling out of control due to an eating disorder. I must find a cd of their music.

my dad would bring home albums of artists we didn't know anything about. The Carpenters was one of them, we would learn the songs and sing along with the record. imagine this, in a black neighborhood hearing this music from our house, but my dad didn't care about that. good singing is good singing to him, i am the same way. love the Carpenters music.

She can make some of the most incredible sounds. It seems odd but close your eyes and listen to the word.. it's at about the 2:25 mark. Actually just close your eyes and listen to the whole thing. She was one of a kind.
