Malaysia is a Newly Industralized Country (NIC). Vietnam is no where close to Malaysia and most vietnamese-americans have never been to Asia so most them have an image of Asia 20 years ago. Visit Thailand and Malaysia and you will see they are more developed than AL, LA and MS!

btw, its pronounced "koo-ala-lum-pore" not kooala lumpoo. Malaysia makes more money off selling natural resources and from major corporate deals than from selling shirts. This is more like Vietnam than Malaysia.

Malaysia also has a Muslim majority and in a Malaysian factory you would see women wearing headscarfs and that would be eating curry with coconut rice for lunch. I usually wouldn't defend Malaysia like this but hey, the people who made this have no sense of what other countries are like; ignorance.

I'm not Malaysian but I'm from its neighbor Singapore. This is not Malaysia! malaysia has rural areas but most offices are in modern high rises and such in Kuala Lumpur. These actors are obviously American-Chinese and are putting on that accent. malaysia as a whole is NOT a third world country although in some areas it can seem that way. This isn't even close to way Malaysians speak which is a multi-cultural country where they would not speak like this.

They're parodying an ignorant--but tragically rampant--North American perception of Asian countries, as well as the predictability of humour on The Office. So sarcasm aside, in some sense, it is a parody of American culture, but not an accidental one.
