Thursday night, December 14, 2006, a powerful wind storm hammered the northwest (of the United States). When morning came, residents throughout the Pacific Northwest woke up to downed trees, no electricity, and (for many) major property damage. It was one of the worst storms western Washington had ever faced, with wind speeds in some areas reaching 70-100 mph. Utility companies like Puget Sound Energy, Seattle City Lights, and Tacoma Power had to call crews from out of state to help repair the significantly damaged power grid. Hundreds of cars were seen on the eastside (across Lake Washington from Seattle) waiting hours in long lines for gas. Flashlights, batteries, and generators were sold out at many hardware stores. Arguably, many Washingtonians were not prepared for such a storm.
My power (provided by PSE) was out for over a week and it got pretty cold and miserable. But I just kept thinking that if people in other countries and my ancestors lived their whole lives without power, I can manage a few days. Hope you enjoy my short amateur documentary of the "December Storm".

Thank you.

That storm was hardcore--it was worse even than the Inaugural Day storm in '93. I live in Crossroads, and we had one tree land on our house and one across our backyard. (I had to drive all the way to Lake Forest Park to find an open gas station, too, and out to Ballard before I found an open Denny's, since my roommates and I couldn't cook anything. XD)

I really enjoyed watching your video. That was a wild storm for all of us in BC and Washington. ... check out my storm video from last month and rate it, or even subscribe at westviewhomeandyard :)

By dinnison [Affiliate User] 1191429008 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeoh yeah, and instead of just hearing 5 or six trees fall in the night like people in cities did, it was litterally a major tree falling or a large branch cracking off a tree every 5-10 minutes... some landed so close i could feel it.
