Apache has armored glass? What a joke? I have never heard... Only metal parts of apache cabin are armored. Watch any apache video you want. Armored glass must have 30-40mm of thiсkness as a minimum. The same glasses have Ka-50 and Mi-28. And look at Apache. It's not hard to see, that there is a simple glass 5-8mm of thickness.(expecially, when side door is open) Look at ka-50 or Mi-28 glasses and feel the difference.

Regardless of the helicopter, the glass may withstand a steel core 12.7mm/50cal bullet, but what about HE rounds that blow up inside of their targets? I don't think any type of glass can withstand that, so I'm not sure how you insist the Ka-50's gonna do any better in that realm.

I'd like the V-22 to be on the list, but like the other choppers, it doesn't have that much of a battle record.

It was just an example. Another reason why Ka-50 is better and needs only 1 pilot - is that Ka-50 has full armoured cabin. Metals part of cabin can stand against 23mm gun bullets. Glasses can stand against 12,7mm bullets. Apachee has large unarmoured classes. So it's not hard for sniper to kill the crew with sniper rifle or tanks 12,7mm antiaircraft gun.

Ka-50 has very high level of automatisation. Computer makes practically all for pilot. So even 1 pilot can operate it without any problems. For example - automatic targeting system by eye. For targeting the pilot should just look at helicopter, tank or another target. If pilot uses mashine gun - bullets fly right to the point the pilot looks at.

I think that's why they made the Ka-52, which is a two seater.

I don't think a single seat, dedicated attack helicopter is good idea. That one pilot has too much to do.

It entered service in 95. It saw combat for the first time 6 years later. And it hasn't seen near as much combat as the others that are in this show.

they've been using the ka-50 since 1995 and have used them quite a bit in the chechnyan war, we just dont hear much about russian affairs

As for an Opera and Beslan siege how could it looks like a successfull rescue attempt? Was it happend in UK history a terror acts like that? Was it solved better? Was it solved a 9/11 well by Western forces? Chechen war is over by now. If you are to learn the subject you'll easily get it was clearly political not a military problem.

Not objective list at all. Where are Russian Ka-50/52, new Mi-28/35??? Only one, what they could put into list - very old Mi-24. Just funny... Ka-50 is the best attack helicopter for the moment, according all characteristics, like armoring, maneuvrability, fire control system. Look, how Apache flyes and how Ka-50 flyes...and feel the difference...

the Commanche will probally not be picked up again they will create a far more advanced faster, and tougher helo and maybe with a new system like the russians did with the Ka-50 they will probaly use VTDP

noone of you cocky slackers botherd to explain where the apache got hit...you can bring down any helicopter with 1 bullet to the tail rotor...ANY helicopter...the Apache has a kevlar/carbon fiber shell and bullet proof glass...you can bring it down, but the pilots sourvive every time and thats what counts...
