f 22 is a air superiority fighter so its designed to simple keep the airspace clear of enemy aircraft while the f 35 is a multirole aircraft with betetr range than the f 22 and it can carry bigger bombs internaly f 22 can supercruise also f 35 cant so in air to air combat f 22 would proly win litle depending on who of em get the other aircraft on radar first whos best all in all i cant say they r a designed for a bit diffrent roles

The F-35 was never intended to go aginst and advanced air to air fighter like the SU-37 or SU-40. Thats the F-22s' job.

The JSF jets, for which Australia is likely to pay $16 billion, were comprehensively beaten in highly classified simulated dogfights against Russian-built Sukhoi fighter aircraft, it has been reported.

The war games were witnessed by at least four RAAF personnel and a member of Australia's peak military spy agency, the Defence Intelligence Organisation, claimed the JSF had been clubbed like baby seals by the simulated Sukhois,

The only thing that disappointed me with this is the power of the B varient. It has the same power of an F/A-18E but for a fifth generation fighter i would expect more power. The other varients look awesome though.
