    I think the deal with the gap was that some one forgot to lock the access gate there. you can see it swing open after he hits.

    He was just luckey he didnt hit the wall a few feet sooner or it would of been a head on into the side of that wall.

    well yeah but more so if it was a worse outcome, they were lucky. It should as you say be a straight flat wall with no gap the car would still have impacted bad but would of slid off the wall and hopefully to a better conclusion perhaps but then ya never know the out come of a perfect wall may of led to a death who knows. I agree with your comment though.
