I think my method is quicker and easier. First, get a bowl to hold the seeds, a sharp knife, and a sheet of newspaper. Cut the flower off and score the sides as shown in this video. There is no need to cut the stem end off.
Then, stick the knife perpendicular into the end of the pomegranate and pierce the core about half an inch so the cuts match up with the scores you made in the skin. Then the pomegranate will easily break into four pieces. Holding the pieces over the bowl, just bend back the corners of the pieces. Seeds will start to fall off into the bowl. Continue bending the parts back and use your thumb to brush the seeds off into the bowl. Set the pith aside as you complete each part.
In about five minutes you will have all the seeds in a bowl, already cleaned. Then you just wrap up the mess in the newspaper, wash your hands and you are done.
I can do it in a clean white shirt without messing up the shirt. It is actually much easier and less messy than using water. Also much easier to clean up afterward.
question do you eat it whole whit the seed's ?

Thanks so much for the compliment! I'm glad this video was able to help you. I try to get my info. right from the source and this is the method that the people at POM would tell you to use. I figure the people who grow the stuff usually know what they are talking about:)
Thanks again and I hope some of my other videos can be of some help as well.

Dude, I've just watched heaps of how-to de-seed/eat a pomegranate videos on here and this one is by far the coolest and most informative. Thanks!
By karinkassab [Affiliate User] 1225639088 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHi richinfort,
Yeah the seed or actually it's the sac that surrounds the seed which is filled with juice, that you actually eat and only that. I wouldn't suggest eating the rest as it sounds like you found out:)
Pomegranates are high in antioxidants which is why you hear they're good for you, they fight off bad things in your body known as free radicals which damage your cells (if my science is right).
Thanks again for your post. Hope you subscribe, always free!

I LOVE YOUTUBE! And all the informative stuff you can find. Thanks, great video, but are the seeds really the only part people eat? I cut a wedge out of one and ate it, a tad bitter! I've read pomegranates are good for you, but had no idea how to eat one.
By richinfort [Affiliate User] 1225322330 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveLOL, yeah I did. Of course you don't have to. The water quality in my area is pretty good so it doesn't affect the flavor. Also this was a demonstration. You can soak them in anything you like even peanut butter! Or nothing at all.
How do you like to do it? Let us know, we love to hear from viewers!
Thanks
ugh, you soaked it in tap water? wtf!

By brian8793 [Affiliate User] 1222907385 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI live in Northern California. I have a tree in my back yard. Some of the larger fruits are ripe now. My guess is the markets should have them on the shelves any day.
Good instructions on this video. Thanks for the tips RVO. Much appreciated.
Hi sarajanicew,
Pomegranate season is listed as August through October. Coming from the retail side of things you are most likely to see a ton of poms at the stores around both Thanksgiving and Xmas. They are used as decoration as much as eating during these times and hence the large retail availability. But primarily this is a Fall fruit. Thanks for the inquiry!
I live in Michigan. I looked for a pomegranate in aug. but produce worker said they were out of season. WHAT IS POMEGRANATE SEASON!>!?!
By sarajanicew [Affiliate User] 1222404316 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveSure. The sack surrounding this seed is actually what you are getting the flavor from but go right ahead and eat the seed too. I just pop them in my mouth one after the other and enjoy.
By RVO174 [Affiliate User] 1221887626 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHey, just a quick question. There is a little seed in the pomegranate seed. Should you eat that? Or should you just eat what's around it?
