  • I finally watched ...

I finally watched it today with my mother, and the theater was filled with little kids.. >>

Anyway, this movie was actually alright. It suprised me, but I believe that adults will enjoy it too.

And.. I don't know, but it felt like something was missing, and that kinda irked me to no end. Especially the very end, it seemed like it cut off too soon, but that might have just been me.

well, u really cant compare disney/pixar to studio ghibli cuz they have their own concept and they are not competing to one another in fact hayao miyazaki visited pixar animation studios

look forward for this one, though some people said that ghibli have lost its touch. i dont thinks so, compare to disney, pixar or any holly f***in' wood animation studio well gibhli is way much better, they still keep the traditional way of makin animation. Thats why i like all gibhli movies, watching them its like travelling through time back to our childhood when cartoon is soo innocent and childish.

I'm a huge fan of Miyazaki as you can tell from my nickname and watch Spirited Away all the time, this is the first time I'm seeing this and this song just isn't very good. I have mixed feelings about this now, I hope I'm wrong but this would have worked with a more magical and mysterious song like in his previous films.

I saw this in Japan. It was actually really good. I saw it at night and there were NO KIDS in the theater at all, just teenagers and adults. Even though it's a kids story the visuals are definitely worth it.

  • Everyone assumes ...

Everyone assumes the worst just because there isn't war, mythology, or any type of robots. As long as Studio Ghibli continues to make movies I'm happy, especially since really they're basically the only company throwing out 2d animated films now and not turning over to 3d. I'm really looking foward to Takahatas film whatever it may be.

what, the hell, did I just watch? That was worse than that LOTR Isengard parody i saw today *shudders*!

Miyazaki is losing it.... What the hell happened to stuff like Laputa, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away??! Those films were/are breathtaking... this well, ohh man.

  • I saw this ...

I saw this yesterday. It's not bad, but it's not the miyazaki we are all used to. Don't go into it expecting a very coherent/logical storyline. Well animated and imagined, but it will probably come off to most adults as feeling entirely ridiculous and anti-climactic. Films like Kiki and Totoro pull it off because there's some element of realism and believability -- this film feels like it looses touch with even its own magical reality. I liked it, but it was all over thep lace.

  • Well, it's ...

Well, it's partially directed by his son...who was until recently going to become a landscaper or something of that sort. His son's film, "Earthsea", was nominated as the Best Animation and Worst Animation (idk how!). So that might be why. I mean, Miyazaki was pretty hard on his son...they got into an argument (even before the film) and didn't talk.

But I think it's so sweet that Ponyo could bring father and son together. I wish they'd just love each other. Parents are pretty important, too.

Well....it's called thinking. And seeing how this is a more of a -children's- film...I'm worried about your brain capabilities.

  • Funny how people ...

Funny how people are assuming the worst, which says alot about some of his fans..
Remember, this is Myzaki! He has never made a bad film in his career, and yet people are going to go in with all these negative reservations about this film?
How could a film that looks like a cross between My Neighbour Totoro, Finding Nemo, and The Little Mermaid be bad? Yeh, exactly.
