Bob Hoover is a pilot who served in World War II, later becoming involved in aerobatics. He is credited for flying next to Chuck Yeager, who was flying the Bell X1 on the mission to break the sound barrier. This video here is very famous and widely distributed. A barell roll in an aircraft (If done right) is a 1G manoeuvre, meaning there are no load forces acting on the plane during the roll.

Man, Bob Hoover is the MAN! And damn so proud that he flew one of our Sabres back in '61 at Clark Air Base. I've personally been to Clark for my OJT for 2 months and a week in 2007 and those hallowed grounds are witness to the flying skills of this unique aviator! *salute!*
