A really explosive easter celebration on the Greek island of Chios.
This uniquely explosive easter celebration takes place at the village of Lagada.
The locals use to fire and throw handmade bombs (explosives) and fireworks in their own village's main church yard, in order to celebrate the Resurection of Jesus Christ.
This event takes place every year, on the eve of Easter Sunday, shortly after midnight.
The main and most impressive "fire barrage" commences when the village's orthodox priest chants/announces that Jesus Christ was risen from the dead.
This unique easter custom is very old and besides it is formaly illegal, it is so strong in the local's conscience that even the police turns the blind eye on it.
